What beautiful January weather! During forest fun we discussed the reforestation that is happening near us and discussed the importance of staying out of these areas. We then enjoyed playing, appreciating how lucky we are to have this forest in our neighbourhood!
In our Poetry books this week we are focusing on math. The 2025 game was one we learned in class and with our big buddies, playing and practicing this would be very beneficial to review their addition skills (Mrs. Scott said they initially struggled with this). Monday we started learning about fractions, please look and discuss their Snowman (front pouch in planner), ask questions about the different fractions. This concept is difficult but important one that they need the basics, so any practice would be very helpful (even if you order a pizza discuss the different fractions).
Please send in cash for our owl presentation and pellets. We will be wrapping up our Owl theme in the next couple of weeks, the students are very excited to disect the owl pellets! I haven't planned exactly when we will be doing this but if you are interested in helping out please let me know.
An announcement is on the portal about our field trip to see Wizard of Oz on Feb. 21st. Please note our lunch will be earlier that day so please send a packed lunch as usual and if possible do not order hot lunch. We will need to leave before the food would be delivered. Thanks for your understanding, if you have or do order they will receive they food once we return and can bring it home.
Spelling starts on Monday, a letter will come home explaining the program. Every Wednesday, if they have not completed the lesson they will need to bring it home for homework. Please return the duotang daily even if it isn't complete, as there maybe time at school to work on it. If not completed they will do so at Free Choice Friday.
